If you start a run and submit a score, the game processes the callsign you enter, your score, ranking position, game title and timestamps. Callsigns and scores can be displayed publicly in the Top 10 leaderboard. Do not enter your real name or other personal information.

Submitting a leaderboard score is voluntary. The processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is a functional, fair and abuse-resistant highscore system. Only Top 10 entries are retained; an entry is overwritten when it falls out of the Top 10, when the leaderboard is discontinued or when deletion is justified and requested.

03 // NECESSARY GAME SESSION

The game sets the session cookie neon_sector_session. It contains only a random session identifier. Server-side session data assigns a one-time run token, the callsign and the start time to your run and helps prevent manipulation of the leaderboard.

The cookie is restricted with Secure, HttpOnly and SameSite=Strict and expires when the browser session ends. Unused server-side run data is discarded after no more than 20 minutes. This storage is necessary to provide the requested game and leaderboard function (Section 25(2)(2) TDDDG).

04 // NO ADVERTISING OR TRACKING

Neon Sector does not use advertising cookies, analytics services, third-party fonts, social-media tracking, local storage or session storage. The callsign is no longer stored permanently in the browser. Game graphics, scripts and audio are delivered locally from this website. The hosting provider may process technical access data as described in the general privacy policy.
